African American Women In Cinema

SPADES Community is happy to be awarding our September 1, 2021, Charitable Award to African American Women In Cinema (AAWIC), a 501 c3 non-profit organization that serves to support the vibrant work of women filmmakers. AAWIC is not new, they have been providing this service outreach for the past twenty-three years.

AAWIC provides a platform to showcase aligning experienced and novice filmmakers, directors, producers, screenwriters, and actors. Its mission is to expand, explore and create business opportunities for minority women filmmakers throughout the entertainment industry. It is the goal of AAWIC to give artistic women a path to fulfilling their dreams through showcasing their talents, exposure to peers’ interaction, and mentoring by established professionals.

The African American Women in Cinema Film Festival (AAWICFF) is one of the most celebrated female film events in the country. Every year, the AAWICFF shines its luminous spotlight onto ambitious women filmmakers from all over the world.  Since 1998, the AAWICFF has premiered a number of distinctive films that featured workshops and keynote panels hosted by industry professionals.
